In my class session, we went over an issue that has been occurring in the United States which is if net neutrality were to be removed. Net neutrality is the principle that internet providers must not charge users for the content they choose to use and they must treat everything equally. However, net neutrality being removed may be a possibility and it will impact everyone.
If net neutrality were to be removed, it will negatively impact students. This is due to the fact that every student uses the internet for educational purposes. Sometimes students do not understand their homework and have to look up videos on the internet for assistance. Without net neutrality, they will have to pay extra for this and some students can not afford to pay extra for website access. If they were to not have access to the internet, they may be likely to fail their course.
Not only schools, but small businesses will also be impacted. Social media is the main source of publicity for businesses but if they have to begin paying extra for it, it can result to negative impacts. They might go out of business because of the extra fees they have to pay for. Also, they may not pay extra for access to social media which would result to the loss of sales. Removing net neutrality would change how we use the internet forever and not in a good way.
