This is the third and last week of this project where I demonstrate how to build an instagram page with active followers. Last week, I showed the progress that I have made by implementing specific strategies. These strategies included using hashtags, interacting with followers, and choosing the right time to post. This week, I will be showing the progress that I have made since last week from the strategies that I have implemented.
Since last week, I have seen a large growth of interactions on my page by using the strategies stated on my previous blog. The posts that I have been creating for my instagram page have been getting nearly one hundred views. Not only views but reactions have been increasing on my story posts which shows that your followers are active. There is no point in having hundreds of followers when they do not react and interact with your posts. The reason why my posts have been gaining more attention is because of the time that I released the post which was around 5:00PM. This is a great time to post depending on your follower’s time zone because this is the time that most people are out of work and free. This is crucial because there is no point in posting when nobody is active on social media.
As you can see, the post that I made last week was able to accumulate over one hundred likes. This is due to many factors such as using the right hashtags and posting at the right time. Another important factor is to make simple and appealing photos for your post. Overall, you can see that the strategies that I have implemented have worked for me. I was able to gain a active audience and more interactions on my page. These tips will not guarantee you an active audience but it is a step in the right direction if you follow these guides.
What is a Internet Troll?
If you use social media, chances are that you have encountered an internet troll in the comment sections of a post you are viewing. An internet troll is basically a person who purposefully starts arguments on the internet just for the enjoyment of it. Not only do they start arguments but they also insult others for no reason. These insults may seem harmless but they may cause real harm.
Internet trolls get enjoyment out of the constant arguments they create. When people reply to them in anger, it just encourages them to spread more hate. The best way to handle an internet troll is to simply just ignore them. Ignoring them will cause the troll to be bored because he is not getting the reaction he was expecting. The only reason a troll continues to be rude is because he finds it amusing when people get angry at what they said. However, this trolling can sometimes become more serious.
Internet trolls also insult people in a way that can make people feel depressed. This can lead to the person feeling worthless which is something nobody should feel. People should always ignore the rude insults they are given in the internet and not take it seriously. Without internet trolls, the internet would be a much better place but that will never happen.
What if Net Neutrality was Removed?
In my class session, we went over an issue that has been occurring in the United States which is if net neutrality were to be removed. Net neutrality is the principle that internet providers must not charge users for the content they choose to use and they must treat everything equally. However, net neutrality being removed may be a possibility and it will impact everyone.
If net neutrality were to be removed, it will negatively impact students. This is due to the fact that every student uses the internet for educational purposes. Sometimes students do not understand their homework and have to look up videos on the internet for assistance. Without net neutrality, they will have to pay extra for this and some students can not afford to pay extra for website access. If they were to not have access to the internet, they may be likely to fail their course.
Not only schools, but small businesses will also be impacted. Social media is the main source of publicity for businesses but if they have to begin paying extra for it, it can result to negative impacts. They might go out of business because of the extra fees they have to pay for. Also, they may not pay extra for access to social media which would result to the loss of sales. Removing net neutrality would change how we use the internet forever and not in a good way.
Creating a Instagram Page with Active Followers Part 2
It has been a week since my last post on this topic and on that blog I stated that I will be posting weekly to show my progress. Also, I said that I will be implementing different strategies and tips to gain active followers on my instagram page. On today’s blog, I will be presenting the different strategies that I used and how much progress I have made since last week.
One of the main tips that I implemented myself to gain active followers is to interact with my followers. Interacting with your followers can be in the comment section of your post or in your direct messages. Interacting with your followers will let them know that you actually care about your followers and this will also let new potential followers to be aware of how you treat your followers. Another tip that I used were hashtags. The purpose of this is to attract the specific type of audience you want based on the content you produce. I use hashtags for streetwear on my posts which attracts people who are interested in streetwear.
A strategy that I learned is from a youtuber named Jason Whaling on the best times to post. This is a great thing to know because it allows a person to know when people are usually free and checking instagram. I implemented this strategy for a week and I received a more active audience which includes more views and interactions on my posts. The amount of views and interactions I received is about doubled then the previous weeks due to these strategies. I will continue to use these strategies for another week to see how my progress is.
How to prepare for College
Transitioning into College can be very difficult, especially if you are a first generation college student. These students might not know about the advantages that they can take advantage of unlike the other students who have family members that have went to college. However, I will be going over two ways on how to prepare for college whether you are about to graduate high school or middle school.
The first part of preparing for college is obviously to start looking at different colleges of your interest and see their requirements. It is never too early to see the requirements of the school because I have seen seniors in high school not know about a requirement for a school they are applying to. As a result, they are rejected from the college.
Another way to prepare for college is to save as much money as possible. It might be difficult to save money when you are in a low income family but there are ways to save money. One way would be to obviously get a job but another way would be to have different sources of income. I can provide an example of another source of income and that would be reselling. I resell sneaker and clothes which can surprisingly give you a large amount of money. Having different sources of income will help prepare you for college financially. Looking at scholarships is not something I would recommend unless you are transitioning into senior year because scholarships tend to change every year.
Does Open Education Matter?
This topic of open education was not brought up through the classroom but rather through a video assigned for homework. At first, I did not have a clear idea of what open education was but when I watched the video it became clear to me. As I completed this video, I realized that open education can impact many low income students in a positive way.
First, I had to learn what open education was. Open education is putting the best teaching and educational tools on the internet available for everyone. This is a great concept because the cost of textbooks have increased dramatically and the price of school shouldn’t be a barrier for anyone who wants an education. There are many intelligent students that unfortunately can not graduate college because of tuition and expenses.
If we are to continue with the usual student debt, this national crisis will not be resolved. Student debt is one of the worst issues that this country has to deal with and open education is one way that this issue can be fixed.
How Important is Networking?
On the last class of the week, we discussed about an important topic and that topic was networking. What we went over is just how important this skill is in order to become successful in life. First, we talked about what networking really is. Networking is interacting with others and making connections. Some might say that it is not important but that is false.
Networking and making connections with others will come with many benefits such as getting a job or getting into a college. A person who knows someone that works for a company that he wants to work at will have a greater chance of getting a job there rather then a random person who fills out an application there. This concept also applies for students who are trying to apply to college. A student that has connections to someone in the college that they are applying to will have a greater chance of being accepted rather then a random student. The reason for this is because colleges and businesses like to accept people that they know. Unfortunately, this is how the world works but we must work with it to make the best out of it.
Creating a Instagram Page with Active Followers
Having a Instagram page with over a million followers is what Instagram users wish they had. However, who is to say that it isn’t possible? My name is Emiliano Alamillo and I currently have an Instagram page where I discuss upcoming sneaker and streetwear releases but starting out is the most difficult part. Currently, I have 800 followers and I am trying to grow my page as much as possible.
As of now, each post that I create gets about 40 views. This may seem like a little but pages with over 100 million followers get about 7 million likes per post. As of now, I have not heard of any tips or any recommendations when posting since I am fairly new to this. Since I will be posting weekly of my progress, I will be implementing different strategies in order to show progress of my page’s growth.
Is Technology a Negative Thing for the Upcoming Generation?
Technology has completely revolutionized how this world functions and there is no doubt about that. Many benefits have been given to us by technology such as being able to look up something we do not know in an instant and being able to communicate with others digitally. However, this new wave of technology has brought many negative impacts to people, specifically the upcoming generation. During the second class meeting of my Education Through Social Media 283 course, the topic of how technology effects the youth was discussed. This discussion led me to believe that technology has done more bad then good for our youth.
When you walk into a restaurant or any place in public, what do you commonly see? Children constantly watching the screens of their phones and not socializing with their family! I personally did not grow up using a lot of technology because I actually socialized with my friends and family. However, this upcoming generation is very different. Kids shouldn’t be on the internet for the majority of the day. They should be outside playing with friends and building their social skills! Social skills are important for kids because it will allow them to communicate with others when they become older.
I believe that technology can be a good thing as long as it isn’t a big part of our lives. It is unhealthy for kids to be reliant on phones and social media throughout the whole day to be entertained. If we were to reduce the amount of times we used our phones, we would have a much stronger community!
